Becky May - Writer

Becky May is a Manchester-based poet and graduate of The Manchester Writing School. Whilst studying for her MA in Poetry, she worked as a Comino Poet in Residence in a local school and served as a judge for the Mother Tongue Other Tongue Poetry Competition.
She works as a Poet Mentor for the Comino Project in partnership with Manchester Poetry Library, supporting Poets in Residence to deliver workshops within secondary school settings. In addition, she facilitates workshops in community settings in both poetry and fiction. In 2025 she was invited to be a Judge for the Manchester Cathedral Poetry Competition.
Becky is a strong advocate for holding community in writing and can often be found at spoken word events, poetry festivals, and workshops. In October 2024 she joined the team at Verbose, Manchester’s longest running spoken word night.
Her work has appeared in PN Review, 14 Magazine, and Propel Magazine, amongst others.
